Quatre Quarts means 4/4 in French. This is a cake made with 1/4 of each of the four ingredients: eggs, sugar, flour, and butter, where 4/4 = 1. This is a basic French pound cake that is very easy to remember and make. A familiar snack that can often be found in French supermarkets. It’s tempting to get out of hand, but why not make it at home and enjoy the freshly made taste!

4/ Add sugar and vanilla sugar to the bowl containing the egg yolks and mix with a whisk.

5/ Add butter and mix further.

6/ Add the flour little by little and mix.

7/ Add the egg white in several portions and mix. The dough is now ready.

10/ If you insert a knife or skewer into the center of the dough and the dough doesn’t stick to it when you pull it out, it’s OK.
11/ Once the cake is baked, remove it from the oven and let it cool in the container for about 20 minutes, then remove the cake, wrap it loosely in saran wrap and let it cool for a few hours before serving.

โ˜…You can make the amount you want by using the same amount of other ingredients based on the weight of the eggs you use.
โ˜…This cake can be arranged in many different ways, such as adding lemon flavor or adding your favorite fruit.
โ˜…Of course it’s delicious as is, but you can also eat it with jam, sauce, cream, etc. Perfect to accompany your coffee or tea.
โ˜…When I actually make it, I often end up eating it hot because I can’t wait for it to cool down…it’s delicious even when it’s piping hotโ™ช
