Turkish baked potato, kumpir. Spread butter and cheese on a fluffy potato, top with your favorite vegetables, meat, and other toppings, then cover with your favorite sauce (mayonnaise, ketchup, etc.) and eat. The potatoes in Berlin’s Markt and other shops around town are so big that you’ll be full! Just like hand-rolled sushi, you can choose your favorite toppings, so you can enjoy it at home with your friends and family.

Cooking time: 1 hour 30-40 minutes
Ingredients:

For 4 people

  • Potatoes 4-8 pieces (adjust to your preference)
  • Olive oil Appropriate amount
  • Salt Appropriate amount
  • Butter Appropriate amount
  • Appropriate amount of shredded cheese of your choice (100-200g)
  • Weiner Appropriate amount (approx. 200g)
  • One cucumber
  • cherry tomatoes approx. 200g
  • Black olives About 50g
  • Kidney beans about 70g
  • Canned corn About 70g
  • Mayonnaise Appropriate amount
  • Ketchup Appropriate amount
How to make it:

1/ Wash the potatoes, place them on an oven plate lined with parchment paper, brush with olive oil, and sprinkle with salt.
2/ Prick the surface of the potato in several places with a fork.

3/ Bake in an oven preheated to 200โ„ƒ for 1 to 1.5 hours. Check with a fork or toothpick to see if it’s cooked through (it’s OK if it pierces through easily).
4/ Prepare toppings. Place the corn and kidney beans in a small bowl.
5/ Cut the sausage into small pieces and quickly fry them in a frying pan.

6/ Cut the tomatoes, cucumbers, and black olives into small pieces and place them in separate bowls.

7/ Remove the potatoes from the oven, cut them in half without cutting all the way to the bottom, and open the cut end with a knife or fork.

8/ After loosening the insides of the potatoes with a fork, add the butter and shredded cheese and mix well.

9/ Spread mayonnaise on top.

10/ Top with your favorite toppings.

11/ Finish by adding ketchup and mayonnaise.

โ˜…Feel free to use your favorite toppings, such as shredded carrots, green peas, canned tuna, cabbage, purple cabbage, etc. I think it’s a good idea to make effective use of leftover side dishes from the previous night’s dinner (such as fried chicken) or vegetables left in the refrigerator.
โ˜…Please adjust the amount of potatoes to the number you can eat depending on their size.
โ˜…The sauce is also delicious when eaten with sour cream or the yogurt and cucumber sauce introduced with the Turkish zucchini fritters.
โ˜…The baking time may vary depending on the oven model and conditions, so please adjust the baking time yourself.
