When you think of Berlin and donuts, the classic Berliner probably comes to mind 😊. But in truth, this city is full of hidden gems—cozy cafés serving up seriously delicious donuts in all shapes and flavors!

A Spontaneous Donut Stop

Cinnamon Roll cafeOne quiet Sunday, after wrapping up some unexpected errands, we took a stroll near Hackescher Markt and stumbled across a donut café tucked along a peaceful side street. The air was still chilly, and I was craving a warm cup of coffee. And since my husband can never resist a good donut, we decided to step inside.

Maybe because it had just opened, the counter was overflowing with donuts—classic sugar-glazed, tiramisu-inspired creations, fruity ones topped with cream… Every variety was beautifully arranged and oh-so-tempting.

Without hesitation, I chose the bold-looking cinnamon roll, while my husband went with a simple sugar-dusted donut. The flavor? Lightly sweet, not overwhelming, and surprisingly easy to devour in just a few bites. The calm atmosphere, warm sunlight, and fragrant coffee made for a wonderfully relaxing moment.

Donut Time Again—This Time with My Daughter

On another day, I went back with my younger daughter, a self-proclaimed donut enthusiast 😋. It was late in the afternoon, and I initially worried that the display case looked emptier than last time—but luckily, there were plenty of extras tucked away in another corner.

She picked the tiramisu and honey-glazed donuts, while I went for a rhubarb and cream-filled one that caught my eye. Not only did they look beautiful, but the texture was delightfully fluffy and the taste even better! My daughter declared, “Next time I’m bringing my friends!” And just like that, we had a perfect girls’ café moment ❤️.

A Surprising Find: Italian-Style Parfaits in Berlin

Yet another day brought another sweet surprise. While shopping near Potsdamer Platz with my older daughter, we discovered a bright, stylish Italian café with a big secret: massive, over-the-top parfaits!🍨

Maybe because of the prices, the crowd skewed older, elegant ladies and families enjoying a treat. But what impressed us most was how many locals managed to finish those enormous parfaits all on their own. Impressive!

We knew we couldn’t tackle one solo, so we shared. The setting was charming, the staff were friendly, and the desserts – whether parfaits or even a slice of Apfelstrudel – were simply excellent. Though it may be an Italian café, this is still Berlin, after all, where international flair and local flavor come together deliciously.

We now find ourselves stopping by whenever we’re nearby. As you can see, the selection of parfaits is absolutely amazing.Berry sauce parfait

On a spring afternoon, when you’re craving just a little something sweet, Berlin’s cafés are the perfect place to stop and unwind.   Whether you’re in the mood for a donut, a decadent parfait, or simply a warm coffee break, the city’s charm lies in how unpretentious and welcoming it all feels.

And of course, for those cozy afternoons at home, you can enjoy some of our favorite sweet treats from Umami too 😊:
