This Refreshing Grapefruit Salad with Shrimp and Avocado has been a family favorite for many years. My husband grew up enjoying this salad, and I believe it was one of the recipes his mother often prepared at home. Today, it has become one of our own family’s favorite summer dishes. Ingredients

Salad

  • 2 grapefruits
  • 1 avocado
  • 100 g shrimp (cooked, for salad)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Fresh parsley, to taste (optional)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Dressing

  • 2–3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
How to make it:

1. Prepare the grapefruit:
Peel the grapefruit and carefully remove the segments with a sharp knife. Cut each segment into bite-sized pieces and place them in a large mixing bowl.

2. Prepare the avocado:
Peel and dice the avocado. Drizzle with a little lemon juice to prevent browning.

3. Prepare the shrimp:
If using cooked shrimp, pat them dry with paper towels. If they are large, cut them into bite-sized pieces.

4. Assemble the salad:
Place the shrimp, avocado, and grapefruit segments in a large bowl. Add the mayonnaise and gently toss until all the ingredients are evenly coated.

5. Season the salad:
Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Gently toss once more to combine.

6. Serve:
Spoon the salad into the reserved grapefruit shells or serving bowls. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately, or chill for 15–20 minutes before serving.
